Dear Arts Council Members:
Do you enjoy live music? MAC is planning a bluegrass night tentatively set for April 4th at the Augusta Curtis Cultural Center featuring MAC member Matt Nozzolio. Check out his My Space, http://www.myspace.com/mattnozzolio for a sample of what you’ll be hearing.
Part of the discussion at our board meeting was about how hard it’s been lately to get arts information published in the Record Journal. This makes us feel that it’s that much more important for people to have a central place to look for arts and cultural happenings in our area. In order to get your event information out to the public faster and more accurately, we’ve added an interactive calendar to our website. You can add your events through a simple on line form, and we can easily use the same information when we publish our printed calendar every quarter. Castle Craig Players and Maloney High School have already taken advantage of this feature. Don’t hesitate to check it out and let us know how you like it.
Katrina Axelrod and Kristina Kosnoff attended a meeting of all groups who are applying for the 2009 LAA Grant. They found the meeting a good networking opportunity and a good chance to become aware of the resources that are available for Local Arts Agencies.

As part of our 2008 LAA Grant, we plan to reach out to new members in Meriden, Southington and Wallingford. We’ve already begun by posting membership fliers in the places where our calendars are available, and by sending out a mailing to prospective members. How can you help our organization grow? First, by remembering to renew your own membership if you haven’t already, and second by telling your friends about us. Our membership application is available at www.meridenartscouncil.org <http://www.meridenartscouncil.org/.
Also available in the same convenient location is the applications for our Annual Arts Award and our Arts Education Awards. So if you know someone you’d like to see recognized for their contribution to the arts, please nominate them. Also direct any high school seniors interested in the arts to apply for our Education Awards. Forms are available in the high school guidance offices as well as on line.
The next board meeting is Tuesday March 4th at 6:30 at the Augusta Curtis Cultural Center.
Sincerely,
Lynn C Fisher
MAC Membership Chairperson
